FAQ

Is TEDx and TED the same thing?

Not exactly. TEDx is an independently organized TED licensed event.

More info here: TEDx brings the spirit of TED’s mission of ideas worth spreading to local communities around the globe. TEDx events are organized by curious individuals who seek to discover ideas and spark conversations in their own community. TEDx events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks, and are organized independently under a free license granted by TED.

What is Reflections?

Reflections is the theme for this event. TEDx Themes are purposefully broad, abstract and open to interpretation. For example, our last theme, Wonderland, was all about limitless possibilities and was a place to challenge assumptions and ignite imagination.

Reflections will take us on a trip down memory lane to celebrate how far we all have come. A lot can happen in 10 years and this is our time to reflect on the journey, look to the future and celebrate the choices that have led us all to this point in time. Every journey has ups, downs and is directed by the ideas and impact of the people we meet. We hope we all can take a moment to celebrate this ride called life and be able to reflect on the experience for years to come.

Can I know the topic of the talks beforehand?

We can’t give all the fun surprises away! So no, you’ll have to join the party to know. Our Speakers Team have searched through applications, combed through the archives and selected a group of speakers that will tickle your imagination. The goal is a wide range of topics to expand our minds and open our eyes to new ways of thinking and different walks of life. So while we can’t tell you the topics, we can say these talks don’t disappoint!

Ok, can I at least know the speakers beforehand?

Not quite just yet. But soon! We will start revealing more and more as we get closer to the event date and even some names of the speakers! But remember, TED Talks are not just about the name of the messenger but about the message itself. Sometimes the most amazing ideas come from the most unexpected places.

How many Talks will there be?

We aim to accommodate between 6 to 10 speakers. There will also be musical guests, entertainment, and plenty of time to stretch your legs, eat and mingle.

Will the entire event be in English?

Yes. Even though we are proud of being from Stockholm, we also aim to influence the world. Having our talks in English means that we can engage a wider audience and make it easier for our ideas to travel globally.

It’s a 6+ hour event, will there be food and drinks?

Yes, we normally provide a light meal, snacks and plenty of coffee and non-alcoholic drinks, all thanks to our generous sponsors. If there is nothing that tickles your taste buds, the location is close to many quick bites and you can grab a bite nearby.

Will I have time to mingle?

YES! There will be plenty of time during the intermissions to walk around, explore the space and meet other attendees. If you attended our recent TEDxStockholm Salon Event, you’re probably familiar with conversation starters and know that strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet. BUT if you need some pointers, kicking off a conversation with “Hi, So how awesome was that last speaker?” or “Did you also get goose bumps at that last speech?” is highly recommended.

Will I have time to sneak out for a cigarette?

If you really need to smoke, then yes. You will find a designated place to light up outside and please, don’t litter.

I’ve purchased a ticket but realized that something more important came up, can I get a refund?

We’re not really sure what could be more important but alright, stuff happens. Unfortunately the tickets are non-refundable. In the unlikely event that you cannot attend, you may however transfer the ticket to someone else. Our events tend to sell out, so it will not be hard to find someone to take your place.

Are there designated seats?

Seating is first-come, first-serve! So come early to get the best seats. During breaks and intermissions, we kindly ask you to leave some sort of seat marker to remind you of your seat and to let others know that the seat is taken. It’s frowned upon to take someone else’s seat in the middle of the event. Really, don’t do it.

I don’t want my picture taken or my image used for any TEDx promotional material. Can I object?

We believe that you are entitled to your privacy and your image should not be used in a way that you do not agree with. However, TEDx events are recorded, and there will be plenty of photographers to capture unique moments. The images and video captured by TEDx staff will solely be used for promoting TEDx and TEDxStockholm activities. We will not sell the footage to third parties. If you notice your image being used in a way that you do not deemed appropriate, please get in contact with TEDxStockholm directly, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Will there be an after party?

It is our 10th anniversary after all! That means time to celebrate the good times! So yes, ABSOLUTELY. Following the end of the main event, everyone is welcome to join and continue the party at Hotel AtSix with us where you can buy drinks, snacks, dance and mingle the night away.
